General

General Information, Gates, and Access at Montego Bay Airport

Sangster International Airport's single terminal building sits on Jamaica's north coast, a few miles east of downtown Montego Bay. The building is organized around a Ticketing Concourse and Ground Transportation Hall on arrival, and three post-security concourses: Western, Central, and Eastern, that together hold 18 gates.

Western Concourse

Located on one side of the terminal, the Western Concourse holds a mix of lower-numbered gates (including Gates 1-3), along with dining, retail, and a bar (The Bar).

Central Concourse

The Central Concourse sits at the heart of the terminal and is the airport's main hub for shopping and dining, including the food court rotunda, the Guitar Bar, and several specialty retail and duty-free stores.

Eastern Concourse

The Eastern Concourse houses most gates (including Gates 8 through 17) and features additional dining, cafés, and specialty shops along the concourse.

Note: Gate assignments at MBJ are subject to change based on flight schedules. Always confirm your gate at the departure information screens or with your airline.

Immigration & Customs

Jamaica is an independent country, not a U.S. territory, so immigration and customs rules apply to every arriving passenger, regardless of nationality or origin:

  • All passengers must complete the Immigration/Customs form before arrival, available at gov.jm, and present a valid passport; non-residents must also show a return ticket.
  • Customer Service Agents are available in the Immigration Hall to assist travelers on arrival.
  • Customs lines are separated into: Nothing to Declare, Passengers with Items to Declare, and Special Passengers (wheelchair passengers and unaccompanied minors).
  • Items for declaration must be accompanied by an invoice and listed on the Customs Declaration Form; one form may cover a family with children under 18, but passengers 18 and older must complete their own form.
  • Duties may be paid with cash, Visa or Mastercard credit cards, certified cheques, or Multi-Link debit/credit cards.
  • The Ministry of Agriculture desk is located in the Customs Hall.

  • The Western, Central, and Eastern Concourses are all within the same single-story terminal building; no shuttle is required to move between them.
